The Mama Mia Islands

The Sporades, often referred to as the Mama Mia Islands, are a stunning group of islands in the northwest of the Aegean Sea.

Skyros:

  • Despite being the smallest of the Sporades, Skyros is unique, offering hidden beautiful beaches and a rich tradition.

Skopelos:

  • Skopelos boasts two main peaks, Mount Palouki and Mount Delphi, as well as beautiful beaches like Agios loannis and Kastani, famously featured in the movie Mama Mia.

Skiathos:

  • Skiathos is renowned for its vibrant nightlife, with Skiathos Town being the most popular settlement.
  • The town’s romantic waterfront and narrow alleys make it an attractive destination.
  • Skiathos combines a cosmopolitan atmosphere with exotic beaches, including Koukounaries, Lalaria, and Ahladies.

Alonnisos:

  • Alonnisos and its surrounding waters, along with minor islands, form the Alonnisos Marine Park, the largest of its kind in Europe.
  • Established in 1992, the marine park is a haven for diverse flora, fauna, marine life (including Mediterranean monk seals), archaeological ruins, and natural beauty.
  • Alonnisos is famous for its greenery and pristine beaches, including Agios Dimitrios, Chrisi, Agios P Glyfa, Planitis, and Spartin.
